한미정상회담이 6일 오전 서울에서 개최되었다.

한.미 두 정상은 한.미간의 동맹이 전통적인 우호관계를 바탕으로 미래지향적이라는데에 의견을 같이 했고, 전략적 동반자관계로서 여러분야에서 협력해 나가기로 합의했다.

특히 북핵문제와 관련, 두 정상은 신속한 북핵문제 해결은 동북아 평화는 물론 한반도 평화에 매우 중요하다는데 인식을 같이했다.

한편, 한미간 FTA에 대해 두 정상은 FTA를 통해 한국과 미국이 경제적 효과를 많이 볼수 있다는 사실을 재확인 했으며, 특히 새로운 일자리 창출에 큰 효과가 있을 것이라고 밝혔다.

The two Presidents agreed to develop the ROK-U.S. Alliance in a future-oriented way, based on the traditional friendly relationship and mutual trust between the two nations.

Accoreding to President's office, They also agreed to further strengthen strategic coordination and cooperationmutually, with a view to the prompt resolution of the North Korean nuclear issue.

And the two summits reconfirmed the creation of a new peace structure on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia, said President Office.

Meanwhile regarding KOR-U.S FTA, The two summitsreaffirmed that the Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (KOR-US FTA) will boost trade, increasing mutualeconomic growth and creating newjobs in both the United States and Korea.

So toward that successful FTA, the two Presidents should devotethemselves to working with their respective legislatures to get an approval forthe KORUS FTA as soon as possible.
