The Korea Society 창립 50주년 기념 축하 리셉션을 겸한 ‘한.미간의 미래관계에 대한 세미나가 안보경영연구원(SMI/Security Management Institute)과 The Korean Soicity의 공동주최로 조선호텔에서 열렸다.
2일 오전 10시부터 열린 이 세미나에는 Donald P.Greg(Korea Society회장)을 비롯, 황동준 안보경영연구원장, 이희범 무역협회장등이 참석 기념및 환영연설을 했다.
내외빈을 비롯 학계.정계.외교계 인사등 200 여명이 참석한 이 세미나의 주제는 ‘변환기의 한.미동맹에 따른 2006년의 평가와 2007년의 정책방향’이었으며, 직면한 문제의 인식, 양국간 동맹의 평가와 문제점및 2007년 주요쟁점이 심도있게 논의.발표 되었다.
이른바 ‘코리아 소사이어티’라 불리는 The Korea Society는 1957년 결성된 것으로 한.미 양국간의 호상이해 증진및 협력을 위한 단체이다
The Joint Conference by The Korea Societry and Security Management Institute was held at Hotel Westin Chosun at 10:00 AM, whose focus was the future of ROK-U.S. relations.
'Since its establishment in 1957, the Korea Society has contributed to the advancement of ROK-U.S relations by improving mutual understanding and cooperation between Korea and the U.S.
2006 has been a pivotal year with important issues such as the transfer of wartime operational control and FTA negotiations coming to the fore.'
'Because of this, TKS and SMI are holding a conference to set the agenda for the future of ROK-U.S relations by exploring the parameters of a broad consensus on the challenges and tasks that Koreans and Americans must tackle in pursuit of their mutual interests.
We expect that this conference will provide a great opportunity for participants to bring forward and share their opinions' said by Donald P.Gregg, Chairman of The Korea Society & Dong Joon Hwang, President of Security Management Institute.
