The beginning of this year would see Taiwan goverment's delegation in Washington D.C because President Ma Ying-jeou instructed the executive and legislative branches Dec 30 to send representatives to Washington to communicate the government’s position on the legislative move to ban certain U.S. beef products.

“Wondering if the latest legislative decision in Taipei appears to be irreversible among U.S government & Congress, the executive and the legislative sectors need to shoulder responsibility for this matter"

And he continued, "The team should leave as soon as possible on its damage-control mission to mitigate the impact on Taiwan-U.S. relations,”

Meanwhile, This time Taiwanese delegation plans to lobby U.S. administrative departments involved in the beef issue and related senators and congressmen.

지난해 말 대만의 마잉주 총통은 최근 대만 정부와 입법원이 미국산 쇠고기 수입에 대한 벌률 일부를 개정한 것이 자칫 미국에서는 오해의 소지가 있다고 전하면서, 가급적 빠른 시일내로 사절단을 만들어 미국 워싱톤에 급파하라고 지시했다.
