조중표 외교통상부 제1차관은 방한 중인 「술타노프(Sultanov Bulat)」 카자흐스탄 전략문제연구소 소장을 10일 면담하고, 양국간 실질 협력 증진 방안에 대해 의견을 교환하고, 여수 박람회에 대한 지지를 요청하였다.

외교부에 따르면, 조 차관은 92년 수교 이래 에너지·자원, 건설, 금융, IT 분야에서의 양국간 협력을 평가하고, 앞으로 우리 기업들이 카자흐스탄에 적극 진출 할 수 있도록 협조를 당부하였다.

또한, 조 차관은 11월 중순 서울에서 제1차 한·중앙아 협력 포럼을 개최할 예정이라고 설명하고 동 포럼이 성공적으로 개최될 수 있도록 관심과 협조를 요청하였으며, 「술타노프」 소장은 한·카자흐스탄 관계의 도약을 위해 중요한 계기가 될 것으로 기대한다고 하면서, 적극적인 참여를 약속하였습니다.

이어「술타노프」 소장은 카자흐 정부의 산업 다변화 정책을 소개하고, 앞으로 단순한 에너지·자원 개발 뿐 아니라 카자흐스탄 내의 고용 창출과 산업 발전을 위해 석유·화학단지 조성 및 농업·건설 등 비에너지분야에서도 양국간 협력이 강화되어 나가길 기대하였다고 외교부는 전했다.

이자리에서 조 차관은 2012 여수 박람회 유치에 대한 지지를 요청하였으며, 「술타노프」 소장은 이러한 한국의 입장을 본국 정부에 전달하겠다고 말했다.

한편, 일간대한뉴스 국제부는 「술타노프」 소장이 조 차관과 만나기 전, 그가 고려대학교 특강을 할때 인터뷰를 가졌다.

Vice Minister Cho Jung-pyo met with the Director for the Institute for Strategic Studies of Kazakhstan Sultanov Bulat on September 10, Monday, who is currently on a visit to Korea from September 6 to 11.

They exchanged views on ways to promote bilateral cooperation, and Vice Minister Cho asked Mr.Sultanov for Kazakhstan’s support for our bid to host the 2012 World Expo in Yeosu.

According to MOFAT, Vice Minister Cho assessed the bilateral cooperation between the ROK and Kazakhstan in areas of energy and resources, construction, finance, and information technology since their establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992. And he asked for support in our corporations’ active participation in business in Kazakhstan.

Also, Vice Minister Cho explained that the First ROK-Central Asia Cooperation Forum is to be held in Seoul in mid-November, and asked Mr. Sultanov’s support and concern for the success of the forum.

In return, Mr. Sultanov stated that he had high hopes that this forum will be an important occasion for the development of the ROK-Kazakhstan relations, and promised the active participation of Kazakhstan.

Meanwhile, Director Sultanov introduced the diversifying policies of the government of Kazakhstan, and expressed his hopes for strengthening bilateral cooperation between the ROK and Kazakhstan in non-energy areas such as agriculture and construction, as well as establishing petroleum and chemical complex for creating jobs and industrializing Kazakhstan.
