Korea called Monday for North Korea to address its human rights record, signaling the new administration’s tough approach on the issue.
"The Government of the Republic of Korea, underscoring human rights as a universal value, calls upon the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to take appropriate measures to address the international community’s concern that the human rights situation in the DPRK has not improved," Park In-kook, deputy foreign minister for international organizations and global issues, said in his keynote speech at the seventh session of the U.N. Human Rights Council held in Geneva.
