Recently Korea Institute of Registered Architects has been spotlighted because of its access to find a key solution regarding the creation of architecture culture-based Korean Wave(韓流).
Beyond everybody's fixed idea that atchitecture is one part of construction business only, The Chairman Mr.Han Myung-Soo reminds us of how human culture has contributed to our society, especially in the field of significant architecture in a picturesque.
Our curiosity for Han's philosophy of architecture & culture made us to have an interview recently in his office.
Q 1) When it comes to saying about the word 'architecture'. Many people still think that it has no any relation between with culture. Could you tell us about your idea on how we have to interpret it ?
A 1) First of all I dare to say 'the concept of archtecture' is not in construction business. It's one of basic factors, which has been elements for human culture, just as mentioned by historians.
So all those who have well-controlled culture or civilization, have successfully launched their national brands to global society. But those who are not like that, have shown us their declines.
This means, that culture can be regarded not as choice problem at random, but as essential survival-based issue.
It has the notion of cosmopolitan, as well as progressed-culture.
A 2) This year is our epoch in the field of international business.
This year saw that We made a channel with European ACE for mutual recognition of each qualification, and with U.S AIA for useful information relating to examination and in-service training.
Especially we hosteded ARCASIA's general meeting in Busan this autumn, which we dare to say, offered the new agora of all Asian architects.
So we will continue to do making any international channel with architect's global network more deeply, being as specific as possible.
Q 3) Any proposal to government ?
A 3) Only one thing important !
We strongly hope that government should step up all efforts to cultivate human resources in the archtecture's field.
So we think, if our government make an endless dialogue with cultural area, including us, we can write Korea's modern history of culture again.
