The 3rd ‘ASEAN Tourism Human Resource Development Program’ was held in Yangon, Myanmar from 27 July to 31 July by ASEAN-Korea Centre in close cooperation with the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism of Myanmar. The program has been organized to support the human resource development of tourism sector of Myanmar through lectures on communication skills and intercultural awareness with Korean tourists among those employed in tourism sectors. Forty-five participants from Myanmar tourism authority and industries participated in this Program.

This training program is part of the ASEAN Tourism HRD Program series which are being organized in each ASEAN member countries over the two years. The first and second programs in the series were successfully held in Laos and Vietnam in May and June this year. Two more programs will be organized this year in Cambodia and Thailand, and five more will be organized in Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, and Singapore in 2010.

During this program, the participants were given an opportunity to learn Korean language and understand Korean culture. The participants expressed their satisfaction with the program and requested for longer and frequent programs in the future.

한-아세안센터는 지난달 27(월)부터 31일(금)까지 5일간 미얀마 양곤에서 미안마 관광청 및 관광업계 종사자 45명을 대상으로 관광역량강화사업을 진행했다. 한국인 관광객에 대한 의사소통능력 향상 및 한국문화 이해 촉진을 위해 한국어 배우기, 한국 문화의 이해 및 한국인 관광 현황 등에 대한 강의가 이루어졌으며 프로그램에 참가한 교육생들은 비록 짧은 교육기간이었지만 매우 유익하였다고 평가하면서 향후에도 이 사업이 계속 확대되기를 희망했다고 전했다.

한국인관광객에 적합한 관광서비스 제공을 위해 아세안 관광분야 종사자의 능력배양을 추진하는 본 사업은 금년에는 라오스, 미얀마, 캄보디아, 태국, 베트남 등 5개국을 대상으로, 내년에는 브루나이, 말레이시아, 인도네시아, 필리핀, 싱가포르를 대상으로 진행될 예정이라고 전했다.
