Incheon city announced recently that they agreed M.O.U with L.A city of America for escalatored promotion of bilareral exchane in L.A city hall.
According to Incheon city, this friendship-based tie was made to show up Incheon city's internationalized spirit, with more lubricated commercial & trade activity, more frequent exchange of culture and high technology between the both.
Incheon city said 'this M.O.U with L.A is the 3rd achievement in our city's political history related with foreign cities, and the big event that Incheon city was nominated as the place of Asian Games 2007 has brought ourselves to propel international city-based tie, even with L.A city'
Meanwhile Antonio Villaraigosa, the mayor of L.A city also said 'I'd like to have more various exhange with Incheon, the main Hube in the Far East, in hope that the both would create the new era'
‘And L.A will support Incheon for the success of Incheon World City Expo program, as much as we can do' he added.
인천시는 LA시와 국제교류증진을 위한 양해각서를 최근 미국 LA시청에서 체결하였다고 밝혔다.
인천시는 이번 양해각서 체결은 인천시가 지난 4월 2014년 아시안게임 유치도시로 결정된 이후 국제도시로 나아가기 위한 세계주요도시와의 교류 확대의 일환으로 추진되었다고 밝히며 이라크의 아르빌주,중국 중경시에 이어 세 번째로 체결된 국제교류 협약이라고 말했다
인천시는 이어 이번 MOU의 주요내용으로는“양도시간의 상호 투자 및 상거래 활성화, 무역·관광·첨단기술 및 물류산업의 발전을 위한 교류증진에 협력함은 물론, 특히, 세계일류명품도시 건설을 위해 인천시가 야심차게 추진하고 있는 2009 인천세계도시엑스포의 성공적 개최를 LA시가 적극적으로 지원하겠다는 내용도 담겨져 있다“고 밝혔다
한편 안토니오 비아라이고사(Antonio Villaraigosa) LA시장은 세계적인 국제도시로 급변화하고 있는 인천시에 지대한 관심을 표명하였으며 앞으로 큰 기대를 갖고 인천시와 다양한 교류를 추진하겠다고 밝혔다
