Recently there was a joint-meeting between Monk Suk In Chul(禪岩)and Wang R.D(王仁德), the Director of Taiwan Tourism Authority, at Bongwon-Sa temple, the headquarters for the Taego(太古宗) in Korea.

Though Bongwon-Sa's Buddhist art festival, named 'Lotus festival', led this meeting, we could have an interview with them, asking the porfolio in the future about exchange between the both's Buddhist.

'Considering that bilateral has many Buddhists each, we hope the mutual Buddist's frequent exchange through Buddhism-based arts performances'said Wang R D, the Director of Taiwan Tourism Authority/SEL.

'Because Yongsan-jae ceremony of Bongwon-Sa temple would be very attractive in Taiwan, if given a chance for Taiwanese Buddhists to see it' he added.

According to Monk Suk In Chul, as well as the Buddhism art photographer, Yongsan-jae ceremony will be performed around this year's autumn in Vietnam, as the new cultural bridge between Korea and Vietnam.

Bongwon-Sa temple, originally established in AD889, is a unique preserver/transmitter of Yongsan-jae ceremony(Rep.of Korea Important Intangible Cultural property No 50), having more 100,000 fellowers.

And Yongsan-jae ceremony is a symbolic reenactment of the historical Buddha 'Sakyamuni' delivery of the Lotus Sutra on Mt.Grdhrakuta about 2,600 years ago.

한국 태고종의 본산 봉원사에서 선암 석인철 스님과 대만관광청의 왕인덕 소장간의 만남이 이루어졌다.

최근 봉원사의 연꽃축제에서 만난 두 사람은 양국간 불자및 스님간의 교류는 물론, 한국 주요무형문화재 50호인 영산재의 대만 사찰내 공연에 대해서도 의견을 나누었다.

왕인덕 소장은 영산재를 통한 양국간의 불교문화및 신도교류가 활발히 이루어지기를 바란다고 말하면서, 특히 영산재가 대만 불교신도들앞에서 공연되면 세계적인 불교예술로 기억될 것이라고 덧붙였다.

한편 국내 최고의 불교사진작가인 선암 석인철 스님은 이번 가을에는 베트남에서 영산재를 거행할 것 이라며 대만과의 불교교류도 양국간의 새로운 불자간의 민간외교가 될 것이라고 말했다.
