Minister Song Min-soon attended a luncheon meeting for the Seoul Foreign Correspondents' Club on November 1, where he explained the Government's position to foreign correspondents and had a Q&A session on pending diplomatic issues.

According to MOFAT, The meeting was attended by about 90 people, including around 70 foreign correspondents. In his opening statement, Minister Song explained policy directions for major issues including the outcomes of the 2007 inter-Korean Summit, progress at the Six-Party Talks, Korea-China-Japan trilateral cooperation, the Korea-U.S. FTA and the ROK's participation in the UN's peacekeeping operations.

The foreign correspondents asked him questions on various issues such as the establishment of a peace regime on the Korean Peninsula, the North Korean nuclear issue, plans for the next ROK-Japan Summit, removing North Korea from the U.S. list of state sponsors of terrorism, extending the Zaytun Unit's deployment in Iraq and North Korean asylum seekers.

외신기자 70여명등 90여명이 참석한 이번 간담회에서 송장관은 모두발언을 통해 남북정상회담 성과, 6자회담 진전, 한ㆍ중ㆍ일 3국간 협력, 한ㆍ미 FTA, UN 평화유지활동 참여확대 및 ODA 증대 의지 등 주요 현안에 대한 정책방향을 밝혔다.

한편, 외신기자들은 한반도 평화체제, 북한핵문제, 한ㆍ일 정상회담 개최계획, 북한의 테러지원국 해제문제, 자이툰부대 파병연장, 탈북자 문제 등 다양한 문제에 대해 질문하였다.
