The 3rd Korea-Algeria Joint Economic Committee

The 3^rd Korea-Algeria Joint Economic Committee was held in Seoul on November 1, with Minister forTrade Kim Jong-hoon and Algerian Minister of Industry, Privatization and

InvestmentPromotion HamidTemmar as heads of delegation.

From Korea,officialsfrom the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade,Ministry ofCommerce, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Construction andTransportation, Ministry ofMaritime Affairs and Fisheries and the DefenseAcquisition Program Administrationattended themeeting.

From the Algerian side, officials from the Ministry ofIndustry,Privatization and InvestmentPromotion, Ministry ofTown Planning, Environment and Tourism, Ministry of ForeignAffairs,Ministry ofenergy and Mining and Ministry of Defense were participated.

The Korea-Algeria Joint Economic Committee was to serve as an opportunity to assess theoverallaspects of the close cooperative ties betweenKorea and Algeria, whichhas been established bythe“Declaration of Strategic Partnership”signed on theoccasion of President RohMoo-hyun’s state visittoAlgeria in March 2006.

Also, both nations discussedways to promotesubstantial cooperation in thefuture.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, During this meeting, both sides assessed the follow-up measures of the 2^nd Joint EconomicCommittee and discuss ways to increase bilateral trade and investment, along with ways to promotecooperation in the areas of construction and infrastructure, IT and electronics, energy and resources,agriculture, and defense industry.

In addition, The two sides exchanged views on ways to increase culturalexchanges and cooperation.

제3차 한-알제리 경제공동위원회가 김종훈 통상교섭본부장과「하미드 테마르(Hamid Temmar)」산업투자촉진부장관을 각각 수석대표로 하여 11.1(목) 서울에서 개최되었다.

외교통상부에 따르면, 한-알제리 양측은 금번 회의를 통해 양국간 우호협력관계를 확인하고, 양국간 주요 현안을 논의한 후 다음과 같은 요지의 합의의사록을 채택하였다.

이에따라 양측은 2006년 한-알제리「전략적 동반자관계 선언」이후 발전된 양국간 관계를 평가하고, 실질적인 관계 강화를 위한 조치를 취해 나가기로했다는 것.

외교통상부는 이어 양측은「기업인에 대한 복수사증협정」체결에 관해 협의키로 하였으며, 이에 앞서 잠정적 조치로서 기업인들의「재입국 비자면제 조치」를 취하는 문제에 대해 원칙적으로 합의하였다고 전했다.

한편 알제리측은 알제리에 주재중인 한국 상사 및 가족의 입출국 편의를 위해 관련 당국과의 협의하에 복수 비자 발급에 관한 한국측 요청을 수용하기로 하였으며, 우리측도 알제리측의 여사한 요청에 대해 관계부처와의 협의를 전제로 긍정적으로 검토하겠다고 밝혔다.
