Minister Song Min-soon will be paying visits to Israel, Palestine and Uzbekistan from November 29 toDecember 4.
Before he enters the Middle East, Minister Song will meet with Maltese Foreign Minister Michael Frendoin Rome and discuss the promotion of cooperative ties in areas of economy, trade and maritime affairs.
According to MOFAT, during the meeting, the two foreign ministers will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) onpromoting substantial cooperation in maritime affairs.

Minister Song will then head to Israel and Palestine and hear the outcomes of the Annapolis Conference,and seek our role in the efforts of the international community to settle peace in the Middle East. There willbe discussions on ways for the Korean side to make substantial contribution to the economicreconstruction project that the Palestinian Authority is promoting for the establishment of an independentnation.
During his visit to Israel, Minister Song pay a courtesy call to Israeli Prime Minister Olmert and discussways to promote substantial cooperation between Korea and Israel in areas of trade, investment, sciencetechnology, aviation and space technology. They will also share views on matters of mutual interest suchas situations in the Korean Peninsula and the Middle East.
In Palestine, Minister Song will have bilateral talks with Foreign Minister Malki and discuss areas of
substantial cooperation such as trade and investment. Minister Song will also seek ways for Korea toparticipate in the efforts of the international community to support Palestine, and seek ways to makeconstructive contribution in its economic development. Minister Song will attend the reception for thelaunch of the Korea-Palestine Friendship Association which was established to expand the base ofpro-Korean figures in Palestine.

In addition, Minister Song will pay an official visit to Uzbekistan on November 3-4 and have talks with ForeignMinister Norov. The two counterparts will discuss ways to promote substantial cooperation in areas ofenergy, resources, IT, agriculture and the construction of new cities. Minister Song will ask Minister Norovfor solutions to the difficulties of Korean companies in Uzbekistan. Minister Song will preside over theMeeting of Heads of Korean Overseas Missions in the Central Asian Nations as well as the InformalDiscussion with Koreans living in Central Asia. This is the first official visit by a Korean Foreign Minister toUzbekistan since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1992.
