President-elect Lee Myung-bak’s transition committee is speeding up the power changeover process, focusing onthe reformation of the central government and key policies before Lee’s Feb. 25 inauguration.
According to Lee's side, Lee’s transition team listened to a report from the Education Ministry Wednesday, the first among 34 government offices to brief the team. The committee will hear reports from ministries and agencies everyday until Jan. 8, and brief the comprehensive result to Lee on Jan. 10.
The committee asked the government ministries to focus briefings on seven items, including key policies over the past five years, plans for implementing Lee’s major election platform and ways of cutting spending.
'The team is to finish making personnel decisions on appointment of new ministers by Jan. 16, and unveil key revisions including the controversial revision of the financial industry restructuring law by Jan. 18' said Lee's spokesman.
